Final Evaluation

In this project I've probably spent the most hours out of any other in the previous year. The concept I had for my music video was ambitious and very time consuming in the post production. The idea I had for my music video was to have me walking throughout the video to the song while all these effects were happening. At the time of planning I didn't have any idea of what effects I'd use so as the post production progressed I started teaching myself new effects to use in the video. My biggest critic about my own work is that I wish I started planning earlier and thought long and hard about every shot and scene so I could have a clear vision of what I wanted to do. When coming up with ideas before filming I couldn't think of any ideas and I wish I spent more time during this time to be writing down pages of different plans to do. Going through every shot and location to use. If I had done this then the process of making this music video would've been a lot quicker instead of working until the deadline to finish everything up.  Despite this regret I'm happy with the way I've worked and the final outcome. I've put a lot of hours and have spent the majority of the time on this project teaching myself cool effects on Adobe After effects. I'm so much more comfortable using this Adobe app now compared to before, this project has pushed me to take my project further than what I'm being taught and I'm very happy of that.

I'm pleased with the final video for my music video. There are so many effects and filters that I had to create for every single shot including shots that didn't make it on to the project. I did what was planned along the way and I'm happy that I was able to pull this ambitious plan off. In the post production phase I wasn't sure if I was going to manage to get multiple effects done on my project. Most of the effects I taught myself during the post production phase as well so the outcome is a huge relief for me.

The final outcome of this project came out well and when watching the video for the first time in full I felt a sense of achievement knowing that I was happy with the work and time I had put in to the project. I enjoyed the project as a whole as it forced me to learn new effects in Adobe making me more comfortable with the software. Something that I'd do differently if I had to do this assignment again is I'd spend more time thinking on ideas for the project as I'd left it late. Other than that I'm very pleased with how everything turned out.

Would this appeal to my artists (Mansionair) demographic

I would argue that my music video would appeal to my artists fans grabbing their attention. The music video of violet city made by Mansionair focuses on the visuals just like the plan for my video. The music video switches between a performance of the lead singer and images of a city. There's effects in the video of lightning and a purple filter on the city. I tried to create the same atmosphere and make the song work with my version just like Mansionair did showing a city in their video.

Most of the Mansionair fans are young adults, I think this audience would appreciate visuals a lot more than an older generation. My music video focuses on the visuals and effects due to the inspiration being the original Violet city video. I think it's very similar to the that of the artists version of their music video. Both mine and Mansionair's don't have many fast shots and tries to make the title of the song as relevant as possible in the music video. Neither has a story going for it in the videos which is what I think makes it appeal to adults rather than kids. I think these music videos that don't have any story going on in it that focus on visuals might bore a kid, which is one of the reasons why I think my music video fits in to Mansionair's demographic.
